Why We Don't Do Therapy.

Although we’re seasoned clinicians with extensive backgrounds in the mental health space, we NO LONGER practice as psychotherapists.

While we respect the work of therapy and are grateful for our personal and professional experiences with it, we find it incredibly limiting to the goal of helping clients meet their full potential.

At this stage of our careers, we prefer focused, effective techniques that result in lasting change.

Therapy is focused primarily on two things:

The Past

The Problem

While talking about the past is sometimes helpful to contextualize the present and plan for the future, it’s easy to get stuck there. We think most therapy clients would benefit from a more directive and results-driven approach.

We also feel strongly that the goal of any therapist, teacher or coach should be to help clients get out of their own way and manifest the magnificent potential inside them. Focusing only on problems is not the way to do that.

Rather than walk endlessly around the fire like most people do in therapy, we work with clients who are ready to walk into the fire and find the strength, drive and focus contained there.

Are you ready to step into your power, purpose and potential?
Then you’re ready for Clinical Coaching.

What is Clinical Coaching?

The culmination of our many decades as entrepreneurs, psychotherapists, and mindfulness teachers, clinical coaching is a practical, effective approach to meeting your life goals. These goals may include the following:

  • Interpersonal (improve relationship skills, create or save a relationship, ease family discord, etc.).
  • External (increase EBITDA, be more productive, get in shape, advance career, etc.).
  • Internal/spiritual (less stress, better health, more calm, etc.)

How is Clinical Coaching different from psychotherapy?

  • Psychotherapy is designed to diagnose and treat mental illness and is focused on the past and the problems.
  • Clinical coaching is designed to identify strengths and improve areas of weakness.
  • Psychotherapy typically eschews certain topics (for example, finances and physical health) which are very important to our coaching work.

How is Clinical Coaching different from traditional coaching?

  • The vast majority of coaches have no clinical background and little real-world experience.
  • This means they’re less effective at helping clients identify and resolve the issues interfering with meeting their goals.
  • Without a clinical context, traditional coaching approaches can be ineffective at best, and harmful at worst.

Of all the approaches we’ve learned and practiced over 50+ years of combined experience, we’ve found Clinical Coaching to be the most effective by a wide margin.

You’ll confront self-limiting beliefs. Be called on to face your pain. Called out on your non-working behaviors. Be challenged to be the best you possible, in all arenas of your life.

Our approach isn’t for everyone. But if you’re ready to go on the journey, we’re ready to take you there.
